What kind of a church is a Baptist Church?
We are Christians who come together to serve God. The term Baptist was applied to us since we practice "believers baptism". Originally it was used negatively, but we let the name stick because in the New Testament Jesus teaches His followers to "Make Disciples, baptizing them in the name of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit".
Baptists are Christians who decided to trust in Jesus's work on the Cross to pay for their sins and give them new life. We obey Jesus' instructions in baptism when we are ready to trust and obey Jesus. Most modern Christian churches practice this, but we've kept the name.
The name Baptist also identifies that we hold to what the Bible teaches.
We run the church as the Bible prescribes, and believe that God's Word is true!
